The authority for psychological defense protects the open and democratic society and the free formation of opinions by identifying, analyzing and responding to undue influence of information and other misleading information that is directed against Sweden or Swedish interests.

The authority is led by a director general and has approximately 90 employees. The authority has offices in Karlstad and Solna. The DG staff is the Director-General's support for strategic coordination, development, administration and management of the authority. The department's responsibilities include management and coordination of the authority's international activities.

We are now setting up a unit for international affairs located at the DG staff. The organization of the agency's international issues has been reviewed with the aim of developing and strengthening the international work and providing improved conditions for strategic work in the implementation of the agency's mission. The role of head of unit is therefore new and there are great opportunities to be involved in shaping it.

Job tasks

As head of the Unit for International Affairs, you are responsible for operations, personnel and budget. You report to the chief of staff. You will lead a group of qualified employees in the work of coordinating MPF's international activities including secondments and the authority's mission connected to Ukraine.

The role involves ensuring the day-to-day operations as well as pursuing matters at a strategic level. This means, among other things, that you are expected to be able to relate processes and issues to current policy development in Sweden and internationally and to the breadth of the authority's mission.

Your role includes collaboration externally with other authorities and organizations nationally and internationally. You must also promote collaboration internally with other departments at MPF. Concretely, this means ensuring that the unit contributes with relevant knowledge and coordination. Travels in the service internationally occur.

Qualifications

This work requires:

Academic degree that the employer finds relevant.

Current management experience or management experience in areas relevant to MPF.

Experience from work in the Government Office or government agency, EU institutions, or NATO.

Experience of driving development work and leading in change.

Very good knowledge of Swedish and English.

It is advantageous if you have:

Good knowledge of total defense and security policy.

Experience from other international organizations with a bearing on MPF's operations.

About the employment

The employment is permanent full-time and begins with a trial period.

We carry out a security check with a register check in accordance with the provisions of the Security Protection Act. In some cases, Swedish citizenship is required. The authority is part of Sweden's total defense and the service therefore entails military deployment.
