The position is located at the environmental unit, where we are approximately 20 people who work with supervision and testing according to the Environmental Code within environmentally hazardous activities as well as with supervision and grant issues in polluted areas. It includes supervisory guidance in these areas vis-à-vis the county's municipalities as well as supervision according to the Seveso legislation.
Job tasks
As an environmental protection officer, you work with the supervision of environmentally hazardous activities according to the Environmental Code. You do this through, for example, inspection visits to businesses, review of environmental reports and handling of incoming cases of various kinds. You work in a team with other case managers while the work is independent and you have your own supervisory responsibility for several supervisory objects. Supervisory guidance towards the county's municipalities is part of your assignment.
The work includes a lot of dialogue with operators, municipalities, other authorities and private individuals. You will participate in other units' cases where environmental protection issues are part of the assignment, as well as participation in various cross-sectoral groups within the County Board.
The work as an environmental protection officer spans many different subject areas and areas of expertise. As it involves handling many complex cases at the same time, the ability to work in a structured manner and prioritize is required.
Other work tasks may become relevant within the framework of the employment, for example opinions to other authorities, consultation, handling of other application and notification matters.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is structured and thorough. You independently push your cases forward while contributing to the development of the group's working methods and cooperation. You have good judgement, can make correct decisions based on an overall perspective and can clearly and simply justify decisions made. Your communication skills are good and you care about a good and professional attitude towards operators and colleagues. Creating good relationships and building trust with those you meet is important to you. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish in both speech and writing.
Requirements for the position
• Academic training in environmental and health protection, environmental science, technology with a focus on the environment or similar training in the environment that we consider to be equivalent.
• Good and up-to-date experience of working with the Environmental Code and its application regarding environmentally hazardous activities.
Current experience of supervision or examination according to the Environmental Code of environmentally hazardous activities or equivalent work is advantageous.
