We can offer good instruments in traditional churches, and a good working community. The organist enters into a close collaboration with the vicar and the other staff.

Current work tasks

Collaboration on the planning and execution of church services and other ecclesiastical acts

Cooperation on trust training

Cooperation between the church and the school in Vang

Making arrangements for church concerts, music devotionals and choral work

Coordinating responsibility for cultural events in the church, rental contracts and other related organization

Elaboration of a church musical plan

If there is free capacity, help with relevant work tasks at the work community

Require qualifications

Relevant church music education and work experience

We would like an organist who can inspire singing and church musical activity in the church sounds

Special requirements

You must be a member of the Church of Norway and perform the service in accordance with the arrangements, basic values and visions of the Church of Norway

You must have a class B driver's license and have your own car

The position includes evening and weekend work

The person appointed will be asked to present an approved police certificate, compare §20 of the Religious Communities Act, and §39 of the Police Register Act, first paragraph

You must be fluent in Norwegian orally and in writing, as well as have basic knowledge of computer tools

About us Vang belongs to Valdres parish in Hamar diocese. Vang is the westernmost of the municipalities in Valdres, on the border with Sogn, and thus midway between Oslo and Bergen. I have approx. 1,650 inhabitants, with cultural school, band and choir, in addition to a wide range of other voluntary work. The church in Vang has 4 parishes; Heensåsen, Høre, Vang and Øye, with 6 churches - including 2 stave churches and an ecumenical mountain church.

The staff consists of a parish priest, a church warden, office workers, churchyard workers, an organist and a church sound engineer. In addition, we have church servants, bell ringers and reindeer herders attached to the churches.

A large-scale investment in children and young people!

A combined children's and youth school, with around 200 pupils. Newly renovated with a brand new multi-purpose hall with climbing wall, pool etc. Two-teacher system, so that there are almost always two teachers present in the classroom. The school makes a lot of use of Vang's beautiful nature, both for outdoor school, the subject FRI-NAT (outdoor life and nature), and sightseeing excursions. In Vang, preschool is free for all children!

Vang municipality has two kindergartens, Høre and Fredheim, both with toddler and older children's sections. In Vang, kindergarten enrollment is ongoing (start when it suits you!)

Ullensvang is located in Hardanger. With beautiful mountains and hiking areas to Trolltunga, Dronningstien, summer ski centers in Jondal and Røldal and Seljestad as well-known winter sports towns. There is a rich cultural life in the municipality. The church has good cooperation with many different parties.

Business with industry, fruit growing and tourism is growing strongly and has a great need for new workers. Among other things, the zinc factory "Boliden" is in the process of investing over NOK 7 billion.

Ullensvang municipality has approximately 11,500 inhabitants. From the municipal center Odda, it is 2.5 hours to Bergen and 2 hours to Haugesund.

The Ullensvang church council operates 8 beautiful churches with a wide range of buildings from Røldal stave church, which is a pilgrimage church, to 2 medieval stone churches and 5 wooden churches, each with its own distinctive features. In addition, we operate a crematorium and 8 churchyards/cemeteries.

In addition to the administration, 5 organists, children and youth workers, a deacon and 8 church staff/churchyard workers have been added. In total, there are probably 14 man-years in the joint council. 5 parish priests are connected to the joint council, appointed in Hardanger and Voss parishes. Both the priests and the staff have offices in Kinsarvik, Jondal and Odda, which is the head office.
